Hackers hacked Kevin O'Leary's Twitter account to distribute BTC and ETH On Thursday, December 29, the attackers published a message on Kevin O’Leary’s official account that he allegedly made a lot of money on cryptocurrencies over the past few years and decided to distribute BTC and ETH. In a series of tweets, the hackers claimed that O'Leary's account had not been hacked and that the giveaways were not fraudulent. They stated that everyone, including residents of the United States, can take part in the distribution of cryptocurrencies. The tweets contained links that took users to a fake site. The scammers could have reused a site that was set up for such scams on behalf of Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk. The Tesla logo is placed at the top of the web pages, the name of this company is present in the domain name, and hackers on behalf of O'Leary thank Musk for sending a certain amount of bitcoins. A few hours after posting, these tweets were deleted.

FTX customers outside the US are asking the court not to reveal their identities According to Reuters, a group of clients of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX outside the United States have filed a petition with bankruptcy judge John Dorsey to maintain the confidentiality of their identities. The Group contends that disclosure of this information could be dangerous to them. According to them, “digital asset holders are particularly susceptible to fraud and theft because cryptocurrencies are difficult to trace and insufficient security measures exist to protect assets.” It is assumed that the collective debt of this group of clients may be about $ 2 billion. Their request was opposed by the bankruptcy supervision service of the US Department of Justice, as well as various media outlets, including the New York Times and WSJ. The court will hear the arguments of the clients and issue a verdict on January 11.

Coin Bureau: Bitcoin could crash to $10,000 in three months In his release on YouTube, the analyst said that soon bitcoin may well lose 60% of its capitalization. The driver of the decline should be the decision of the US Federal Reserve on the base rate - if the US Central Bank stops raising the rate, then the stock and other markets will simply collapse. “We will see the bottom of the cryptocurrency market in the first quarter of next year. I think bitcoin will fall to $10,000, and the decline in altcoins will be from 60% to 80%. The main reason will be, as expected, the cessation of raising rates by the Fed. But, I emphasize, this does not mean a reduction in rates, so the cryptocurrency will not fall below the specified limit, ”an anonymous analyst reasoned. According to the author of the Coin Bureau channel, the stock market is expected to decline by 20% or 30% in the coming months. And the cryptocurrency market is more volatile, so it will go down by 40% or 60%.

The vice president of the largest shareholder of the Bithumb exchange committed suicide Shortly before this, Park Mo (Park Mo) was named the main suspect in the case of embezzlement of funds in companies associated with the crypto exchange. Also, South Korean prosecutors accused him of manipulating stock prices. The Seoul prosecutor's office suggests that Mo committed suicide because of the threat to his term. In 2021, the Financial Investigation Department of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office arrested Mo. Vident owns about 35% of the shares of the cryptocurrency exchange, which makes it the main shareholder of the company. It is speculated that Mo may have committed suicide due to the gravity of the charges against him. Recall that in October, South Korean prosecutors accused the former chairman of the board of directors of Bithumb, Lee Jung-hoon, of fraud and demanded eight years in prison for him - he was accused of defrauding investors in the amount of more than $ 70 million.

Sam Bankman-Fried: "I'm not involved in withdrawing funds from Alameda wallets" The crypto community noticed withdrawals from Alameda Research wallets on December 27 and 28. It happened right after the release of Sam Bankman-Fried (Sam Bankman-Fried) from prison on bail, so it is not surprising that suspicions fell on him. However, according to Bankman-Fried, he does not have access to wallets. In addition, bail conditions limit the ability of the FTX co-founder to conduct large cash transactions. “I did not carry out these transactions. I have not withdrawn and could not withdraw funds, I simply do not have access to them,” the FTX co-founder accused of fraud wrote.
